Lucid Builder 2
The Lucid Builder is a powerful software product that allows you to quickly and easily construct multimedia Lucid keys on any topic you like.
These keys are viewed using the Lucid Player. Building a key involves the following:
- a list of taxa (note that "taxa" refers to any group of objects or concepts that can be keyed out using Lucid, including organisms, objects, systems and diagnoses)
- a list of characters and states (multistate or numeric)
- a data matrix in which the taxa are scored for the states
- a front page and title (optionally with an image and sound to welcome the user to the key)
- a set of general information topics (including text, images, videos or sounds)
- text-based information topics attached to the taxa included in the key
- images, video clips or sound files attached to the taxa in the key
- explanatory notes for character states
- character state images
- character sets, to help break the character list into smaller, logical chunks
- character dependencies, specifying that one or more characters depend on a state of a logically prior character.
Creating keys with the Lucid Builder is simple and intuitive and involves the following easy to follow steps:
- Entering the taxa, characters and states
- Scoring the taxa for the characters
- Attaching descriptive text, illustrations and multimedia
- Polishing the content and compiling the key
