If you start the Lucid Player and no toolbar appears in the top of the opening window this is an indication that the Microsoft Common Controls on your system need updating. This update can be obtained directly from the Microsoft web site. Or if you own the Lucid Professional CD then the update can be found in the updates directory and is called 50comupd.exe. Double click the executable to run it. If you have installed the Lucid Player via a Lucid key product then the update can also be found in an updated directory on the CD. Once installed you will be required to reboot.
CD Installation:
The Lucid Player will now be installed and ready for viewing keys.
Download Installation:Open your window control panel via the windows start menu.
Double click the Add/Remove programs icon.
A dialog listing installed applications will appear. Browse the list until you find the file Lucid Player. Select the Lucid Player and click the Add/Remove button.
During the uninstall process you may be prompted about files that are shared with other applications. If you are unsure whether another application is still using these files then do not select 'Yes' to the prompt to remove them.
Once the uninstall process has finished click the OK button.
Please note: The uninstall package will not remove any files that have been created or modified after the original installation. To fully remove any left over files check to see if the Lucid directory still exists. If it contains no important files that you wish to keep then you can safely remove the directory.
Use #$runkey* as the href value within your html to get the Lucid Player to start the key.
Below are some examples:
Regular html link:
To start your key click here
Here is the html tag: <a href = "#$runkey*">click here</a>
Image map:
<area href = "#$runkey*" shape = "rect" coords = "423, 83, 595, 206">
When click the player will automatically start the key and open to its default 4 windowed state.
Please note: This tag will only work from the Players startup screen.
Affects Lucid Player (Plus and Standard) v2.1 and v2.2
Opening a key directly from a web page may result in a grey screen within the
Lucid Player.
If a you initiate a Lucid2 key directly from a web page the Lucid Player may
fail to copy the key file from the browsers cache into the Lucid install folder.
If this occurs it will result in the keys front page failing to load and if the
key is started via the start key button a grey screen will appear. To bypass the
grey screen and quit the player press the escape key.
To overcome this problem select to save the key, via the web browser, into the
Lucid install folder prior to directly opening the key from the web page.
